The Shengshou Skewb was one of the first mass produced skewb puzzles available for purchase back in the day, making it a popular choice among many cubers looking to get into skewb solving. Since then, there have been many other companies releasing newer and more modern skewb designs better suited for speedcubing and competition purposes, but the Shengshou skewb still remains a quality puzzle, and is a great choice for beginner cubers looking to learn and practice skewb solving.
Similar to the original Shengshou pyraminx, this puzzle also has a very prominent clicking mechanism that keeps the layers aligned during solving. This gives the puzzle a sort of crunchy feeling, yet the layers still feel relatively fast and smooth at the same time. However, I find that the clicking mechanism does make speed solving a bit difficult since turning the layers requires a certain degree of force due to the ball bearing securely locking the layers in place after each turn. This cube also has an anti popping mechanism built in, so you can be rough with it during solves and not have to worry about popping. There is corner cutting to a small degree, but it falls short compared to many other more modern skewbs betters suited for speed solving. However, lockups aren't really an issue since the ball bearings ensure that the layers perfectly click into place after each turn.
The only small downside about the puzzle are the dull stock sticker shades, which is not a big issue, since they can be easily replaced with your preferred shades.
Overall, while not specifically made for speed solving, this is still a good quality puzzle and I would especially recommend it to beginner and intermediate level cubers as a first skewb to practice on.
