The YuXin megaminx is a budget oriented megaminx puzzle that is supposed to provide great performance for speed cubers for the lower than usual price tag. This not only makes it a great puzzle for beginners on a budget, but also for more advanced cubers looking to get the most bang for their buck performance wise. Seeing as the puzzle was so cheap, I decided to pick one up and try it for myself.
My first impression of the puzzle was that it felt very light in my hands. Compared to my Shengshou megaminx, it feels a lot lighter. The puzzle also features ridges along the edges of each piece, giving it a nice grip and making it easier to hold. As for turning, it is quite fast right out of the box, even without adjusting the tensions or lubrication. The layers feel very smooth, but they have a sort of scratchy and dry feeling. It is quite a unique feeling and reminds me of a Fangshi 3x3. There is some corner cutting in both reverse and normal, although not to a huge degree. While solving there are sometimes small catches, but it isn't to the point that it gets annoying like in some other puzzles. The stickerless shades are also very nice and vibrant.
I honestly can't see any downsides in this puzzle considering the quality and performance it provides for the price. While I am not an expert megaminx solver by any means, I think this is a great puzzle and would even be worthy to use as a main if properly tensioned and lubricated to reduce the dry out of the box feeling. Although there are better quality megaminx puzzles better suited to speed solving and competition use such as the X-Man Galaxy, the YuXin megaminx is a steal at this price in my opinion.
While it isn't particularly amazing in any aspect, it has great all round performance and I would highly recommend this megaminx to beginners, and even more advanced cubers. Great puzzle!
